Ages: 5 - 9yrs and 10 -14 yrs

July 10th-14th: Islamic Science & Inventions

This one week camp will take children out daily to fun and interesting visits to the Science museums, Oxford Science Museum, iconic science sites and parks in London with workshop co-ordinators. Children will learn about the key elements of Islamic Science and inventions and interpret this in a contemporary context.

Afternoons will be jam packed with arts & crafts activities, experimental nature and play, invention design and science experiments. For older children there will be sessions on Minecraft, Photoshop and Indesign to design their own scientific experiments and inventions, for which laptops will be required but may be loaned if necessary.

July 17th-21st: Islamic Miniatures & Noble Sports

This one week camp will provide an introduction to the beautiful and intricate tradition of Persian and Mughal Miniatures with a focus on the noble sports of archery, fencing, swimming and polo.

The week promises to be action packed, fun days out playing noble sports of fencing, archery, swimming and possibly polo as well as  learning about the artistic and historical context of Miniature painting.

July 24th-28th: Islamic art & design

This one week camp will take children out every morning to fun and interesting visits to the world renown museums such as the V&A and Design Museum, art galleries, iconic creative sites and parks in London with workshop co-ordinators. Children will learn about the key elements of Islamic art and design such as geometry and nature, Arabesque, ceramics, tile making and calligraphy and interpret these in a contemporary context.

Afternoons will be jam packed with arts & crafts activities, experimental play, clay crafts, calligraphy, elements of design technology. For older children there will be sessions on Photoshop and Indesign to design their own art and design, for which laptops will be required but may be loaned if necessary.

Tickets:  £50 per day      

Barakat Members: £40 per day

The children will be supervised by members of staff and volunteers during visits and activities.
