| Grants
are made at the discretion of the Academic Advisory Committee
of the Barakat Foundation
and include: |
- To selected Muslim scholars who have already been accepted
by the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilization,
University of Chicago: One scholarship of $10,000 for the
doctoral program in Islamic archeology for the first year of
study.
- Additional
funding will
be available to the students who have qualified for the
discretionary grant during any period of their study to enable
participation
in archaeological projects appropriate to their individual
research programs.
- MIT /Barakat Foundation grant: this is a small grant designed
to recognize the work of one or two MIT students who are engaged
in research on a topic in Islamic architecture. It is merit-based
and all MIT graduate students in Islamic architecture are considered
for it.
